A guide to therapy

Thank you for visiting my site. I am a Counselling Psychologist and integrative psychotherapist which means that the way I works is an integration of various therapeutic approaches.

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a talking therapy which mean that through talking with the therapist you are able to think about and address what you are finding difficult or challenging. To support you in doing this I offer a non-judgemental and supportive environment.

What is integrative psychotherapy?

Integrative psychotherapy is an approach that integrates different theories and practices so as to enable me to best support you in your current situation.

Can psychotherapy help me?

Maybe you are experiencing feelings of low mood, anxiety or stress or finding relationships with others difficult. Counselling doesn't promise a cure. Through the process of meeting with me you have the opportunity to think about what it is that you are finding difficult and how it is impacting on your life. I regard the task of therapy to be that of clarifying and exploring the issues you bring in a way that is non-judgemental and relational. I adopt a collaborative approach based upon being emotionally present, facilitative and direct.

What issues can psychotherapy help with?

People can find therapy helpful for a wide range of problems. I have worked with individuals and families to help improve or gain clarity around relationships, to think about a specific problem they are experiencing or have experienced, increase confidence, and/or reduce anxiety. I believe that an important part of the therapeutic process comes from allowing yourself the time and space to think about what it is that is concerning you.
